Is Ahlong a money lending service?

No. Ahlong is a private record keeper for money you have already lent to people you know. It does not lend, transfer or collect money, and it charges no interest. Commercial money lending in Malaysia requires a licence under the Moneylenders Act 1951.

Where is my data kept?

Everything stays in your own browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so no one else can see who owes you what. Use Download a backup to keep a copy of the book as a file.

How do the WhatsApp reminders work?

Ahlong writes the message for you based on how late that payment is, then opens WhatsApp with the text already filled in and the right chat selected. You read it, adjust the tone if you want, and press send yourself.

Can I split a loan into installments?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Enter the total, then choose how many payments there are and whether they fall weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Ahlong works out each due date and each amount, and tracks every installment separately with its own status and its own reminder.

What if someone pays only part of an installment?

Accepted Answer

Enter the smaller amount when you record the payment. Ahlong keeps the remaining balance on that installment and shows how much is still to come, so the total in the book stays accurate.

Does it work without a connection?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Install Ahlong to your home screen and it opens offline like any other app. You only need data at the moment you send a reminder through WhatsApp.
